Accidental Suicide and Alcoholism
Recently, a regular visitor to my website in the ICU had taken an overdose of multiple drugs are approved. She was on a ventilator for several days, and was not expected to live. Luckily she survived, although she still has many problems.
She has no intention of taking her own life. She was simply the victim of what is currently a very important issue among those affected by alcoholism.
Polypharmacy literally means multiple medications. However, their use in general is meant a situation where more drugs than necessary, the means taken by the individual. This can be in any or all of the following result:
o Unexpected complications and syndromes
o Drug – drug interactions
o Needless higher costs
Baclofen is a relatively new and revolutionary new treatment for alcoholism, food cravings, especially in the alcohol addiction is a chronic anxiety / stress / panic. Baclofen is a very safe drug, but because of medical politics, and baclofen, most people around the world and they take without their doctor’s consent or even knowledge, as a rule the purchase over the Internet.
In a previous life, polypharmacy was one of my hobby horses. Most surgeons find that is the average age of the patients getting higher and higher. Many of these patients come to the hospital with almost suitcases of medicines they are taking at home. If they really about their symptoms and medication (which I always did, but some others seem to) put into question, following the pattern was repeated -
“When I was in the hospital, Dr Clever (my advisor) gave me drugs A. Then I got symptom Z. I went to my family doctor, Dr. Smith, a drug to me as to my symptoms Y. So I went back to the surgery, and saw another doctor, Dr. Jones. He prescribed medicine C. But that gave me only symptom X. When I returned to the hospital, I saw a junior doctor, can not remember his name, though nice man who ordered some X-Rays. They were normal, so he gave me drugs D. This has to develop myself Horrid syndrome, which apparently happens when you take drugs to drug D B. When I saw Dr. Clever finally made again, he stopped drug B, C and D, and only reduced the dose of drug A, and apologized to me for unnecessary X-Rays. I’m fine now. ”
I think that messy paragraph describes the point perfectly. But what is the real point here? Why do I bring it up now?
The essential is that with a high dose (often very high dose) baclofen is taken by such a large number of us who are in some uncharted territory. Further, many of us also:
o Are you diagnose yourself, self, self-prescribe dosing, self-monitoring of baclofen
o If, in addition to other anti-alcoholism drug baclofen. Many of them are very powerful “brain chemistry” to change medications.
o If there are other psychological, if not psychiatric problems for which we “alter brain chemistry” other powerful drugs can be prescribed. Benzodiazepines are of particular concern in this regard
o Are other medications for other unrelated diseases
o Do not eat properly
o Do not sleep properly
Have relationship problems at home
Have other social, housing, financial problems
o Are, perhaps most importantly, to drink, even large amounts of alcohol
o and keep the fact that we are looking to take high doses of baclofen secret of our doctors, after all the other things
Therefore, we are each of us potentially concocting our own version of Baclofenestrone Soup, each with its own special recipe and unique effects. A recipe so far unknown in the history of medicine / pharmaceutical kitchen. As unique to you, that you may be first to add it to the books. God help you.
I’m not scaremongering, I’m just highlighting an important issue, and ask you all to be very careful.
After all, polypharmacy nearly killed a friend of mine. Without realizing the consequences, she took a potentially lethal cocktail of drugs and alcohol, some doctor prescribed some do not. But all commercially available.
On the website there is a Baclofen4alcoholism now launched a new section called All About baclofen, in which all the various aspects of baclofen together, including polypharmacy. I suggest that someone has taken or under consideration in high-dose baclofen for their alcoholism, they read very carefully.
